The Big Game Tournament was inspired by the Striking Fishing Tournament, one of the East Coast’s longest-running big-game fish tournaments. This May, come to New Smyrna Beach and experience a revival of Striker’s great history. The Big Game Tournament will be held May 8-17.
Participants can pick any two dates out of the event to compete and will pay a $500 entry fee per boat for a chance to win big! Species included in the event are Blue Marlin, Billfish Release, Wahoo, Dolphin, Tuna, and King.
The event will be hosted by Outriggers Tiki Bar and Grille, a wonderful spot for great eats and good times right on the water, and it promises to be fun for the whole family.
The inception of The Big Game Tournament comes from the Striker Tournament which had its inaugural year in 1976.
Its first event promised a big payout - instantly establishing the tournament’s place in the leagues of big-game fishing.
The Striker Tournament was born of Royce Riehlman and Capt. John Hazouri of Halifax Sport Fishing Club. Their idea was to promote Florida's beautiful Atlantic coast.
For decades the exciting event drew large crowds to participate and spectate. The competitors hoping to take home the big prize and spectators wanting to see who was crowned victorious.
Three hundred boats came to compete in Striker’s largest year.
The Big Game Tournament, built in the spirit of the Striker competition, is sure to be an event you don’t want to miss.
