Gallery One Twenty in New Smyrna Beach, Central Florida, is a contemporary art gallery featuring the work of established mid-to-late career American artists. The gallery is run by TJ England and Copper Tritscheller. Open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. during the first Saturday Art Walk every month.
TJ England was born in the parking lot of Bert Fish Hospital in New Smyrna Beach, FL. She is a published poet having studied with Seamus Heaney, Poet Nobel Laureate of Ireland, along with various other motley poets of some international fame. While attending jewelry and mixed media classes at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, she volunteered as an archeologist with the Massachusetts Archeological Society. TJ is a member of Greenpeace and looks forward to someday sailing aboard a Greenpeace ship.
The bronze sculpture of artist Copper Tritscheller is primarily of bats and burros. As a native of Georgia, Tritscheller did not originally pursue a career in art, however, her artistic side showed itself in many ways until in 2000, when she was formally introduced to the art world. Drawn to what she considers the "misunderstood" animal, much of her work centers around burros and bats. Tritscheller approaches her subjects from all angles, sculpting them both as animals as well as anthropomorphically. She is constantly pushing the barrier between animal and human.
