It's a land-based sport, sure, but water features are often backdrops at championship public golf courses in New Smyrna Beach. Year-round, the New Smyrna Beach Area has a long history of hosting some of Florida’s best play — including the Indian River Open, held annually for more than 50 years — and area courses include the New Smyrna Beach Golf Club, established in 1948, where rolling greens are dotted with towering palms and windswept pines.
