Little Theatre Summer Camps

WONDERLAND CAMP

Theater is for everyone! The confidence and creativity that comes from performing and crafting a show shines through in every aspect of life. Plus, it's a lot of fun! There's a lot more to acting than just speaking lines. Campers will learn movement, voice, storytelling, stagecraft and more from a local pro!

9am-noon, Monday thru Friday for campers entering Grades 1-4 1 pm-4 pm, Monday thru Friday for campers entering Grades 5-8 Each camp is $100. Take one, two or all three!

Instructor: David Bell Educator and director of children's programs for 24 years

Week 1 (June 12-16): A Strange Night at the Museum

A trip to the museum turns into a madcap adventure when art thieves break in and encounter statues, famous paintings, ancient relics, and dinosaurs that all have a mind of their own!

Grades 1-4: Campers will learn the basics of theater such as stage and body positions, vocal projection, pantomime, and movement. Participants will develop characters based on famous and not-so-famous mysteries. They will work individually and in a group, using their new skills and stagecraft projects to rid the museum of the thieves. A final presentation will be performed for friends and family on the last day of camp.

Grades 5-8: The basics of the theater will be taught, and in addition, campers will explore different storytelling techniques, pantomime, improvisation, playwriting methods, and character development to explore their favorite mystery and turn that into a presentation which will be performed for friends and family on the last day of camp.

Week 2 (June 19-23):  Neverland Revisited

  Peter Pan has gone missing and the lost boys, joined by Michael, John, and Wendy must join together to defeat the evil Captain Hook.

 Grades 1-4: Campers will learn the basics of theater such as stage and body positions, vocal projection, pantomime, and movement. Participants will develop stories based on some of the most iconic characters from the Peter Pan legends. They will work individually and in a group, using their new skills to bring to life a new story with some familiar characters.  A final presentation will be performed for friends and family on the last day of camp. 

Grades 5-8: The basics of the theater will be taught, and in addition, campers will explore different storytelling techniques, pantomime, improvisation, and the concepts of intellectual and physical humor, Students will create characters and a script to adapt a modern story from the classic tale. A final presentation will be performed for friends and family on the last day of camp.

Week 3 (June 26-30): Is There a Dr. in the House?

 A Tribute to Dr. Seuss

  See how the lessons of Dr. Seuss and other children’s authors can solve some of life’s everyday problems. 

Grades 1-4: Campers will learn the basics of theater such as stage and body positions, vocal projection, pantomime and movement. Participants will develop characters based on all types of performances: dance, humor, music, puppetry and magic, to name a few. They will work individually and in a group, create stories based on the works of Dr. Seuss, Shel Silverstein and other beloved authors.  A final presentation will be performed for friends and family on the last day of camp.

 Grades 5-8: The basics of theater will be taught and in addition, students will explore different storytelling techniques, pantomime, improvisation and the concepts of satire, parody and physical humor. Campers will create a performance with dance, humor, music, puppetry and possibly magic. A final presentation will be performed for friends and family on the last day of camp.
