Rocket Launches / Kennedy Space Center
Witness a Rocket Launch from Kennedy Space Center right at the best viewing point: on the beach!
Witnessing a live rocket launch is jaw-dropping, and the beaches on our barrier island offer prime viewing for launches. Eager spectators set up their beach chairs along the shoreline and wait in anticipation as rockets blast off from Kennedy Space Center.
Some of the best spots are on the south side of New Smyrna Beach, like Canaveral National Seashore - Apollo Beach. This park, which costs $20 per vehicle, fills quickly on launch days, opens at 6 a.m., and gates close at 8 p.m. during the summer. Insider tip: get there early. As parking is limited, visitors will not be allowed to enter once it's full.
If the launch is later than 8 p.m., another favorite viewing point is Bethune Beach, located at 6656 S. Atlantic Avenue. This locale is very family-friendly, with free parking and easy access to restrooms. No matter where you choose to watch the space center launch in New Smyrna Beach, be sure to bring along your camera or phone to capture it because you will be amazed.
